Duct tape is the most useful repair item you can have. The hard to find olive drab “army” tape sticks better than the common gray tape found in hardware stores.

Be sure to include some nylon filament (strapping) tape in your repair kit: It beats duct tape for mending broken canoe paddles, boat seats, and tool handles. Tip: Remove tape from its bulky roll and rewind it on a short pencil. Now you can “write about what you fix.” Everything should be multi-purpose in a camping trip!
