Honey and Sugar - Good Medicine For Wounds
Posted by Camp Trainer on Jan 17, 2009 in First Aid and Safety • No comments • 137 viewsHoney will sweeten your tea and heal your wounds. It is slightly acidic so its effective in killing micro-organisms. The University of South Florida in Tampa used honey on patients who were undergoing abdominal surgery. Doctors there found that honey was more effective than some expensive antibiotics! If honey works well, sugar works better. Why? Because bacteria require moisture to survice and sugar has none!
Dr A Mirzrahi, a microbiology professor at Hebrew University discovered that honey is also good medicine fo treating burns and ulcers. Medical reports show that people who took two to three ounces of honey everyday over several months cured their ulcer!
So next time when you are packing that medical kit, be sure to bring some honey along. It also doubles up as that sweetener for the hot tea.
